Senior Project Specialist II, OperationsAtlanta Community Food BankJan de la Concepción
Senior Project Specialist II, Operations Atlanta Community Food Bank Jan began her journey fighting for food justice eight years ago when she volunteered at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Within five months, she had given more than 200 hours of service. Jan quickly discovered her passion for preventing food insecurity and a purpose in supporting her community, first as a Group Leader, and then Operations Supervisor at the Food Bank’s Hunger Action Center. Jan has worked with countless volunteers, sorting hundreds of thousands of pounds of donated products on a weekly basis. She also spent 2 years at the Food Bank’s first Community Food Center, helping to distribute more than 3 million pounds of food to over 3,500 households. Now as Senior Project Specialist, Jan uses Lean Six Sigma Black Belt techniques to create operational efficiencies and remove barriers in food distribution, identifying culturally relevant foods, and supporting neighbors with special or restricted diets at the Food Bank’s five Community Food Centers. At Feeding America, the national network of 200+ food banks and affiliates, Jan is on the steering committees of Women in Operations and Operations Community of Practice. A true multipotentialite, prior to joining the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Jan held senior leadership positions in technology, advertising, operations, marketing, hospitality and print production. Most recently, she was the Director of Integrated Marketing Operations at the American Cancer Society. On weekends, Jan can be found outdoors, whitewater kayaking, hiking, camping, and cycling. If it’s raining, she plays pickleball on the indoor courts or is in her art studio. |
